Major Injury Collision Near Alta Bonnynook Road Friday
Alta, CA (February 25, 2022) – At least one person suffered injuries following a traffic crash that occurred on Interstate 80, also known as Alan Hart Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol group reported two vehicles collided in the westbound side of the highway near the Alta Bonnynook Road onramp. For reasons still under investigation, a pickup slammed into the back of a semi truck on I-80.

Shortly after 12:46 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding emergency crews found the driver of the pickup with major trauma–including a broken arm, and injuries to their head. An ambulance transported the patient to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Meanwhile, the operator of the big rig appeared unharmed after the incident.
Investigators stayed at the scene the whole afternoon. They continue to work to determine the precise cause of the car accident on Interstate 80 in Alta.
