Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Gardena, April 4
Primary reports indicated that Padilla was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette in the area at approximately 9 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, Padilla lost control of the Corvette and struck a power pole before slamming into a building in the 1300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard.
The gas tank of the vehicle ruptured upon impact. The Chevrolet became engulfed in flames as a result of the crash.
Investigators claimed the Corvette was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. The Corvette was reportedly side-by-side a Chevy Camaro, and the vehicles appeared to be racing at the time. Authorities continue to investigate the matter.
No details were released on the driver of the possibly involved Camaro.
We offer our warmest of thoughts, and our prayers to all the parties involved and their families in this difficult time.
