2 Killed in Cerritos Head-on Crash on I-605 Freeway
CERRITOS, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2022) — Alyssa Aragon-Ramirez, 26, of El Monte, died in a Cerritos wrong-way crash on the Interstate 605 Freeway early Friday morning near South Street.
A driver traveling in the wrong direction crashed head on into her vehicle about 2:21 a.m. on Feb. 18th, according to My News LA. A driver in a red Hyundai Elantra stopped on the shoulder of the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. He reportedly made an illegal U-turn on the freeway and began driving northbound before hitting a a southbound vehicle driven by Alyssa Aragon-Ramirez.
Both cars immediately became engulfed in flames.
A Good Samaritan pulled Alyssa Aragon-Ramirez out of her car and began CPR on her, but she died at the scene, CHP said.
The fiery, wrong-way driver crash killed both of the motorists on the 605 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Meanwhile, police closed down all of the southbound lanes of the freeway for several hours.
The deadly Cerritos wrong-way crash on the 605 Freeway remains under investigation.
