3 Men Killed in Highway 33 Truck Accident ID’d
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (May 19, 2023) — Amancio Hildago, 77, of Raisin City, is the eldest of three men who died in a crash with a semi-truck on Highway 33 at Manning Avenue in Fresno County.
Two other men who died who in the crash were the driver of the car they were all traveling in, Juan Cortez, 53, and a second passenger, Kevin Cruz Montesinos, 21, both from Rasin City. The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner identified the men who died.
The deadly crash occurred around 5 a.m. on May 18th in the Cantua Creek area, just south of Mendota, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Car Versus Semi-Truck Crash in Fresno County
The three men were traveling together in a westbound car on Manning Avenue. The driver allegedly pulled into the path of a northbound semi-truck on State Route 33/South Derrick Avenue, ABC 30 News reports.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection and the truck pushed the car roughly 100 yards. Two of the men in the car died at the scene and the third was transported to a hospital where he later died.
Police are investigating whether or not the driver of the car ran a stop sign.
Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators are piecing together what happened to determine fault for the Fresno County crash on Highway 33.
