1 Killed, 4 Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 198
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2019) – Amanda Clark, 32, was among four people injured in a suspected DUI fatal collision on Sunday night in Tulare County.
The collision was reported at 5:00 p.m. on September 29, on Highway 198 at Road 248, just northeast of Lemon Cove.
Joshua Scott Young, 37, was driving westbound in a 2001 Mercedes C200 sedan on Highway 198 when he attempted to pass slower-moving traffic on the two-lane highway. His Mercedes crashed head-on with the eastbound 2011 GMC Yukon that Clark was riding in.
Clark suffered major injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. Meanwhile, two passengers in her vehicle were transported to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Keely Stidham, 56, of Tulare, was driving the GMC, and the other passengers besides Clark were a 6-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy.
Unfortunately, a 61-year-old man or woman who was a passenger in the Mercedes suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Police arrested Young on DUI charges and booked him into the Tulare County jail.
