Arrest Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Near Orange Cove
Fresno County, CA (June 30, 2025) – Amanda Maldonado, 38, of Orange Cove, died in a hit-and-run crash on Adams Avenue while riding a bicycle Saturday near Orange Cove in Fresno County.
The Orange Cove woman was struck by a driver in a red Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by Rafaela Cruz, 41, of Orosi, California, according to the Fresno County Public Information Office.
Deadly Bicycle Accident on Adams Avenue
The driver reportedly hit the bicyclist from behind and dragged the bike approximately 120 feet after the impact. Police do not believe the victim was dragged by the truck.
Amanda Maldonado suffered major injuries and was not wearing a helmet. However, she had a flashlight activated at the time of the collision. Unfortunately, the bicyclist died following the crash and the driver fled the scene.
Later, Cruz turned herself in at the police station, and she was booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony gross vehicular manslaughter charges. She faces multiple charges, including felony gross vehicular manslaughter.
