 Amatwa Tafari Killed in Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident on Vermont Avenue

Woman Killed in Crash is Identified

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2024) – Amatwa Tafari, 26, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident early Sunday at South Vermont Avenue and West 120th Street in South Los Angeles.

The deadly crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 11th at the intersection, just west of the Harbor (110) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver in a Ford SUV struck the young woman in the roadway due to unknown circumstances. She suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the suspect in the SUV fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. Police continue to investigate the crash and are searching for the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the woman who died as Amatwa Tafari.

The fatal pedestrian accident on Vermont Avenue remains under investigation.
