Amazon Employee Aurelio Fuentes, 23, Critically Injured in Fresno Car Crash
FRESNO, CA (November 24, 2021) – Amazon employee, Aurelio Fuentes, was critically injured after a DUI crash in the city of Fresno.
The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News identified the 23-year-old man as the victim in the wreck which took place on Tuesday evening.
The incident began when Aurelio Fuentes pulled his black Chevrolel out of an Amazon warehouse in Fresno. He continued driving north on Cedar Avenue.
Police said a black Kia approached and then struck the Chevrolet at the intersection with Florence Avenue. The accident occurred on November 23 at about 6:15 p.m.
Both vehicles crossed both lanes of traffic before coming to a rest on the west curb line. Aurelio Fuentes, an Amazon-contact employee, ended up trapped inside the car as a result of the crash.
Israel Douglas Arrested For DUI
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and rescued him from the wreckage. He sustained severe head injuries due to the impact of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to Community Regional Medical Center and listed him in critical condition. Family members set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his medical bills.
Officials took the three passengers of the Kia for treatment of minor wounds. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the Kia was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car.
Officers soon arrested him for felony DUI causing great bodily injury and driving while unlicensed. They booked the suspect, Israel Douglas, into the Fresno County jail.
The Fresno DUI crash is still under investigation.
