Amazon Employee Critically Injured in Fresno DUI Crash at Florence and Cedar
FRESNO, CA (November 23, 2021) – An Amazon employee was critically injured after a DUI crash at Florence and Cedar avenues in Fresno.
According to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News, the accident took place on Tuesday evening. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:15 p.m.
The incident happened when a black Chevrolet pulled out of an Amazon warehouse in Fresno and headed north on Cedar Avenue.
Fresno police said a black Kia then slammed into the Chevrolet at the intersection with Florence Avenue. Both cars crossed both lanes of traffic and came to a stop on the west curb line.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
The driver of the Chevrolet, an Amazon-contracted employee, ended up trapped inside the car. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and extricated him from the wreckage.
The victim sustained severe head injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist in the Kia was under the influence of alcohol when he struck the other vehicle. They soon arrested him for felony DUI.
Officials took the three passengers of the Kia to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The reports did not release the names of the wounded patients.
Officers forced the area of Florence and Cedar avenues to shut down following the wreck. The Fresno crash is still under investigation.
