
CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (Jan. 31, 2023) — Amber Reaves, 28, of Turlock, died in a pedestrian accident on the Interstate 580 Freeway in the Castro Valley area of Alameda County.
The woman was struck by a vehicle around 5:10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30th, at the transition to the northbound Highway 238 in Ashland, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Apparently, the woman had been traveling in a white Chevrolet Malibu with some other people when for unknown reasons she exited the car and began walking on the freeway, East Bay Times reports.
A 71-year-old Castro Valley woman driving a black Honda CRV struck her in a traffic lane on the eastbound Interstate 580 Freeway, according to a report by East Bay Times.
Amber Reaves suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the other occupants from the Chevy Malibu had been searching for the victim after she exited the vehicle and were nearby. The driver of the Honda stopped and is cooperating with authorities.
Police say the driver from the Honda was not under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.
A tow truck removed the Honda CRV for evidence.
