Pickup Towing a Boat Collides with Ambulance at Lancaster Intersection
LANCASTER, Calif. (July 2, 2024) – Several people were injured when an ambulance and pickup truck collided Monday on Division Street and Avenue J in Lancaster.
The American Medical Response ambulance was transporting a patient to Antelope Valley Medical Center when the driver turned left into the path of an oncoming Ram pickup truck.
The pickup, which was towing a boat, was heading southbound on Division Street and the ambulance was traveling on the same road in the opposite direction, MyNewsLA and police said.
It happened at around 3:20 p.m. on July 1st, according to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and determined the ambulance was turning onto Avenue J at the time of the crash on a yellow light without its emergency lights or siren engaged. Meanwhile, the pickup truck was in the number one lane and broadsided the ambulance at the intersection.
The patient from the ambulance and the paramedics attending to the person were all transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries from the collision.
Meanwhile, the driver from the pickup truck declined medical transport at the scene.
Liability for the ambulance versus pickup truck crash on Division Street has not been determined, but the case remains under investigation.
Finally, witnesses may call Lancaster Sheriff’s Station traffic detectives at 661-948-8466.
