Woman dragged to death tethered to her dog aboard BART train
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2021) — Amy Adams, 41, of San Francisco, died in a BART train accident Monday where she was dragged onto the tracks.
The woman was tethered at the waist to her dog as she boarded the Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train about 3:16 p.m. on Sept. 13th. She stepped off the platform at the Powell Street station and boarded the train with her dog, but she got back off to wave at someone just as the doors began to close on the leash.
The dog was inside the train and she was on the platform. As the train began to move, Amy Adams was pulled along and dragged onto the track where she died at the scene. Her dog was not injured in the accident.
“This is a tragic loss of life, and we are following all safety protocols,” BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

Meanwhile, a San Francisco medical examiner’s office identified Amy Adams, 41, as the woman killed in the BART train accident.
Also, BART train rules allow only service dogs to board trains while on leashes and all other dogs must be in carriers. It’s unknown if the dog in this incident was a service dog or not.
Our thoughts and prayers extend to the family and friends of Amy Adams as they cope with this tragedy.
