DUI Driver in Taft Fatal Crash ID’d as Ana Patricia Garcia-Silva, 25
TAFT, CA (June 1, 2021) – Authorities detained Ana Garcia-Silva after a DUI crash that killed her passenger on Highway 33 in Taft.
Police determined that the 25-year-old Pasadena woman was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred on Sunday.
The incident began when Ana Patricia Garcia-Silva was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang south on Highway 33 in Taft. She then lost control of the car and swerved to the right.
Gregoria Juarez Pachuca, 50, Killed in Highway 33 Crash
Police said the Mustang went off the highway and then rolled over multiple times. Kern Golden Empire and Taft Midway Driller wrote that the wreck took place on May 30 about 5:15 p.m.
One of her passengers, 50-year-old Gregoria Juarez Pachuca, ended up thrown from their vehicle as a result of the collision. The Pasadena resident died at the scene.
A third occupant of the Mustang escaped serious injury following the accident, just north of Cadet Road. Meanwhile, police soon arrested the driver for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
They also charged Ana Garcia-Silva with DUI causing death or bodily injury and driving without a license and set her bail at $111,500. The fatal Taft DUI crash is still under investigation.
