2-Vehicle Crash on State Route 91, at SR-55
ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. (August 8, 2023) — A multi-vehicle car accident happened in Anaheim Tuesday on the westbound Riverside 91 Freeway at the transition to the southbound Costa Mesa 55 Freeway.
The collision occurred in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes about 1:04 a.m. on August 8th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch. A driver in a blue Toyota Corolla reportedly rear-ended a Toyota RAV4 SUV, the report said. Airbags were deployed in both of the vehicles. A third vehicle may have also been involved.
Paramedics responded to help those hurt in the crash, but the occupants from the Corolla declined medical help. However, at least one occupant from the RAV4 required an ambulance for undisclosed injuries.
Police issued a SigAlert due to several lanes being blocked by the collision.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed both damaged vehicles from the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
