ANAHEIM: Major Injury Bicycle Accident Katella and Manchester
ANAHEIM, California (June 19, 2017) — A bicyclist was injured Monday morning in a collision with a blue compact car at Katella Avenue and Manchester Avenue, according to On Scene TV.
The bicycle accident took place about 2:06 a.m. this morning. The male bicyclist was riding near the intersection while carrying another bicycle and entered a crosswalk when he was struck by the driver. The person driving the vehicle stopped and assisted the injured man until paramedics and police arrived.
Paramedics rushed the critically injured man to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The Anaheim Police Department is heading up the investigation into the collision.
It appears from the facts in this report that the bicyclist was attempting to cross the street, but did the motorist see him properly? Was there adequate lighting at this intersection? Was it a marked intersection or crosswalk or was the bicycle rider cutting through traffic. These are important questions, but also important is whether the driver was distracted? Was alcohol involved? Was the driver obeying posted speed limits and other rules of the road? There are traffic lights at this intersection so hopefully there were witnesses who saw what happened.
