Multi-Vehicle Collision on SR-57 South, Near Katella Avenue, Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, Calif., (Sept. 3, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday afternoon on the southbound Orange 57 Freeway in Anaheim near Katella Avenue, resulting in major injuries and significant roadway blockage.

The incident was reported on Sept. 2nd at approximately 4:22 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The crash involved a black Mercedes and a black BMW, among other vehicles, on the southbound lanes of SR-57 just north of Katella Avenue.

Emergency responders, including paramedics and fire units, quickly arrived at the scene, blocking several lanes to provide necessary aid. The collision reportedly obstructed the HOV, number one, and number two lanes, causing significant traffic disruption in the area.

The black Mercedes sustained major front-end damage, and the occupants of the vehicles were attended to by emergency personnel. The names and ages of those involved have not yet been released.

The crash is currently under investigation by the authorities, who are working to determine the cause of the collision. Witnesses or anyone with pertinent information are urged to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
