LAKE ELSINORE, California (Sept. 18, 2017) —Andre Dang, 27, of Buena Park, and Gilbert Banuelos, 24, of La Habra, both died in a head-on crash between their two motorcycles near the Ortega Oaks Candy Store, according to a report by the Orange County Register.
The fatal crash took place about 10:52 a.m. Sunday morning on the Ortega Highway, just west of Lake Elsinore. Police believe that Banuelos was traveling eastbound on a Yamaha sport motorcycle when he allegedly came to the curve in the roadway and veered into the path of Dang who was headed westbound on his BMW motorcycle. Banuelos allegedly crossed over double yellow lines on the pavement.
The crash led to a closure of the roadway in both directions for several hours.
The two riders died within minutes of one another at the scene.
Police continue to investigate the crash.
