Andres Martinez, 32, ID’d as Suspect in Pedestrian DUI Crash on Newhall
SANTA CLARITA, CA (May 26, 2023) – Authorities detained Andres Martinez after a DUI crash in a Santa Clarita Gas station on Newhall Avenue.
The sheriff’s station determined that the 32-year-old Canyon Country man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision took place on Wednesday.
Deputies said Andres Martinez backed his white Ford F-150 up into a man who was putting air in his tire at the Chevron Gas Station on Newhall Avenue.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
The car struck the victim in the 20500 block of the road in Santa Clarita. The Signal and Hometown Station wrote that the accident occurred on May 24 at around 8 p.m.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian hurt as a result of the incident. Medical personnel then rushed him to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The name of the wounded party and his condition at this time were not released. Meanwhile, deputies soon arrested Andres Martinez on suspicion of DUI causing injury.
They booked the suspect into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. The pedestrian DUI crash is still under investigation.
