Woman, 66, Critically Injured in Garden Grove DUI Crash on Larson Avenue
GARDEN GROVE (June 19, 2019) – An alleged DUI crash left a pedestrian critically injured along Larson Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports by KTLA and The Orange County Register, the accident was reported on June 18 shortly after 5:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of Larson Avenue.
Police said a 66-year-old Garden Grove woman was standing at the rear of her vehicle on Larson when she was struck by a red Toyota Corolla that was headed east at the time.
She was crushed between the two cars involved. She was freed and then rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange where she was listed in critical condition.
Suspected Drunk Driver Andres Salas, 35, Arrested
The victim was being treated for internal bleeding and reportedly had to have her legs amputated. Her name was not immediately disclosed.
Meanwhile, police affirmed the driver of the Toyota tried to flee the scene but ended up hitting a second parked vehicle about 70 feet from the first collision.
The suspect, 35-year-old Andres Ramon Salas, was arrested shortly after and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
The Garden Grove man was taken the Orange County Jail and was ultimately booked on suspicion of felony DUI.
