Victims of St. Helena Head-on Crash on Highway 29 Identified
ST. HELENA, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2019) — Andress Hatch, 68, of Yountville, and Jonathan Thorn, 32, of Lower Lake, were identified Tuesday as the two drivers who died in a head-on collision on Highway 29, just north of St. Helena.
The collision took place about 2:10 a.m. on Highway 29 near Bale Lane.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Hatch was driving on Highway 29 in a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic when he suddenly veered from the southbound to the northbound lanes. He crashed head-on into a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Thorn.
Both drivers suffered major injuries and died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police closed down the roadway for nearly three hours to investigate, the CHP said.
