Andrew Balderas, 21, Killed in National City Motorcycle Accident
NATIONAL CITY (October 12, 2018) – A motorcyclist killed after a traffic collision at Mile of Cars Way and Transportation Avenue Thursday has been identified Andrew Balderas, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.
San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said the 21-year-old San Ysidro man was a victim of a tragic accident which occurred at about 7 a.m. outside Frank Toyota near National City Boulevard.
As per the article, police affirmed that Balderas was riding a motorcycle east on Mile of Cars Way when at the same time a Toyota Sienna turned in front of him to go south on Transportation Avenue.
Minivan Driver Injured in Crash on Mile of Cars Way
Balderas then collided with the side of the minivan. The rider, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was found unresponsive and lying on the ground following the wreck.
Police affirmed that the motorcyclist was then taken to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest where he was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the driver of the minivan sustained minor injuries upon impact. The motorist reportedly stopped after the crash and cooperated with the authorities. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
