Teen Killed in 2-Vehicle Collision is Identified
PALM DESERT, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2024) — Andrew Castellanos, 18, of Cathedral City, died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Varner Road in Palm Desert.
The head-on collision occurred around 8 a.m. along Varner Road, just west of Washington Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
The Cathedral City teen was driving a Lexus when he reportedly lost control and collided with a westbound white Ford pickup truck towing a utility trailer.
The young man suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The coroner later identified him as Andrew Castellanos.
Meanwhile, two men riding in the Ford pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
Finally, the California Highway Patrol is heading up an investigation into the crash.
