Andrew Marquez, 31, ID’d as Suspect in Oxnard Fatal DUI Crash
OXNARD, CA (November 3, 2022) – Authorities detained Andrew Marquez after a fatal DUI crash at Pleasant Valley Road and Terrace Avenue in Oxnard.
Police determined that the 31-year-old Oxnard man was under the influence when the wreck took place on Tuesday.
The incident began when Andrew Marquez was driving a 2017 Honda Accord east on Pleasant Valley Road, approaching Terrace Avenue, in Oxnard.
At the same time, a 19-year-old Oxnard man was riding a 2022 Kawasaki Ninja west. Andrew Marquez then started to make a left turn onto Terrace.
Elijah Franco, 19, Killed in Wreck
In the process, he collided with the motorcyclist in the intersection. The Ventura County Star and KVTA News wrote that the accident occurred on November 1 at around 1:30 p.m.
The rider, Elijah Franco, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed him to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he died.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police soon arrested Andrew Marquez following the DUI crash.
Officers booked him into the county jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter in lieu of a $505,000 bail.
Police forced the area of Pleasant Valley and Terrace to shut down for a time following the wreck. The Oxnard DUI crash is still under investigation.
