Angel Avila-Alvarez, 24, of Buena Park Killed in Long Beach Car Crash
LONG BEACH, California (July 25, 2016) — Angel Avila-Alvarez, 24, of Buena Park was killed early Sunday morning in a fiery collision on the Interstate 605 Freeway, just south of Carson Street, the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Coroner reported.
The fatal crash took place about 2:35 a.m. this morning in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Avila-Alvarez was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla. The young man was traveling northbound on the freeway when the vehicle swerved over to the shoulder and crossed traffic lanes where it struck the center divider.
A passerby stopped to help the young man and tried to pull him out of the vehicle, but unfortunately, he died of his injuries at the scene.
The fatal crash is under investigation by police to determine liability. Witnesses to saw the collision are asked to contact the CHP at (562) 868-0503.
“There are numerous causes of solo collisions that are out of control of the driver including mechanical defects, road conditions, medical emergencies or defective roadways,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Police will attempt to piece together what happened here and determine liability.”
