2-Vehicle Car Accident on Pomona 60 Freeway
POMONA, Calif. (April 10, 2023) — Angel Cortes, 26, of Long Beach, died, and a second person was critically injured, following a two-vehicle crash in Pomona at the 60 Freeway and Garey Avenue off ramp.
Angel Cortes suffered major injuries and died Sunday, April 9th at the crash scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
Meanwhile, the second driver was hospitalized in critically condition, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol and the Long Beach Post.
Police reported the crash occurred around 1:51 a.m. at the Garey Avenue off ramp from the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway.
Both motorists were trapped in their vehicles, but were extricated by arriving Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters.
Paramedics transported the unidentified driver who survived to a hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, authorities issued a SigAlert and closed down all traffic lanes for a few hours to conduct an investigation into what happened.
