Angel Rodriguez, 26, Suspect in Santa Ana DUI Crash at Corta and Edinger
SANTA ANA, CA (August 9, 2021) – Authorities detained Angel Rodriguez after a DUI crash at Corta Drive and Edinger Avenue in Santa Ana.
Police determined that the 26-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred last week on Wednesday.
The incident began when Angel Rodriguez was driving a white van east on Edinger Avenue, approaching Corta Drive, in Santa Ana. At the same time, a gray SUV was traveling west.
Santa Ana police said Angel Rodriguez was making a left turn onto Corta when he struck the SUV. My News LA wrote that the wreck took place on August 4 shortly before 9 p.m.
Man Critically Injured in Collision
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the male driver of the SUV hurt. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
They rushed him to an area hospital and listed him in critical condition. Meanwhile, medical personnel took Angel Rodriguez for treatment of unspecified wounds.
Police soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI. They charged Angel Rodriguez with DUI causing injury with a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Records showed that he pleaded not guilty on Monday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. The Santa Ana DUI crash is still under investigation
