YUBA CITY, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2019) —Angela Dunakin, 52, of Roseville, died Sunday in a traffic accident on Highway 99 in Yuba City.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Dunakin was stopped at a traffic light on Highway 99 when her vehicle was rear-ended by a large truck. Paramedics responded and rushed her to a hospital, but sadly she died of her injuries the next day, according to East Bay Times.
Angela Dunakin was the widow of Sgt. Mark Dunakin of the Oakland Police Department who was fatally shot in the March 21st, 2009 police shooting with three other officers.
The mother of three adult children, Dunakin was returning home on the day of the fatal crash after visiting her youngest son, Patrick, at Chico State University.
Dunakin reportedly donated her organs to multiple people including the mother of her eldest son’s girlfriend who just happened to need a liver transplant.
The surviving children of Dunakin can be helped by donating to Fund A Hero: Dunakin Children’s Family Trust Fund which was established by the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC).
