2 Hurt in Collision at South Avenue and Kirkwood Road
Tehama County, CA (May 12, 2022) – Angelica Castillo, and Tyler Mitchell suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of South Avenue and Kirkwood Road.
The Action News Now reported a school bus and a passenger car collided at the intersection of South and Kirkwood Thursday. Preliminary investigation revealed 19-year-old Mitchell was behind the wheel of a Honda traveling in the streets of Tehama County. When the Honda drove through the crossing, it struck the rear of the school bus. Officials mentioned the bus was making a left turn onto Kirkwood Road from eastbound South Avenue when the crash happened.
Shortly after 1:46 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found Tyler Mitchell, and his passenger–21-year-old Angelica Castillo, both with injuries. Paramedics transported the two patients for treatment of major trauma including a broken leg, and scratches all over their body.
26 Students Evaluated After Traffic Accident in Tehama County
Meanwhile, medical personnel reportedly checked the conditions of all the 26 students on the bus. After the evaluation, authorities confirmed all students were unharmed in the crash.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole afternoon. They continue to investigate the precise cause of the collision at South Avenue and Kirkwood Road in Tehama County.
