The accident took place just before 3 p.m., just north of the French Gulch Road intersection.
As per the California Highway Patrol, Chris Dunivant was the driver of an old Chrysler headed eastbound who crossed into southbound lanes triggering a head-on crash with a 2016 Nissan driven by Charles Gates, 75.
Gates had three passengers inside his vehicle including Ellen Carlson, 29, Judith Gates, and Randy Gates.
Authorities confirmed that Ellen Carlson sadly was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
Judith, Randy, and Charles Gates were all injured and transported to Sonoma Regional Medical Center.
Christopher Dunivant, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP officials do not know what caused the 29-year-old man to lose control. Drugs or alcohol could have potentially caused the crash.
