Anibel Lopez, 31, Faces DUI Charges After Stanislaus County Crash on Geer Road
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (May 16, 2021) – Authorities detained Anibel Lopez after a DUI crash on Geer Road in Stanislaus County.
The California Highway Patrol determined the 31-year-old Turlock man was under the influence when the wreck occurred late Saturday night.
The incident began when Anibel Lopez was driving a Honda sedan south on Geer Road in Stanislaus County. He was swerving back and forth across the lanes, just south of Santa Fe Avenue, at the time.
CHP said Anibel Lopez drifted into the opposite lane and slammed head-on into a GMC SUV traveling north. The Modesto Bee wrote that the accident took place on May 15 at about 11:50 p.m.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene between the cities of Hughson and Turlock. They found the driver of the GMC suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed him to the Doctors Medical Center with a broken femur and lacerations to his face. CHP identified the victim as 49-year-old Turlock resident Rigoberto Salas-Torres.
Officials located Lopez unresponsive in his car following the crash. They took him to the same hospital for treatment of abdominal lacerations, a fractured pelvis and a broken ankle.
Officers forced Geer Road to shut down for a time after the wreck. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the suspect is facing felony DUI charges. The Stanislaus County DUI crash is still under investigation.
