SAN JOSE, California (July 1, 2016) – A 6-year-old boy who was fatally struck in the parking lot of Westfield Oakridge shopping center on Thursday night has been identified as Aniket Gadre, according to NBC Bay Area.
The collision occurred about 9:30 p.m. at the mall at 925 Blossom Hill Road.
As per the article, Gadre was walking with his mother and sister when a grey 2015 Mercedes hit him and his mom at a low speed.
The 6-year-old San Jose boy was immediately transported to the hospital, where he later died. Gadre was reportedly walking with his hand held by his mom at the time of the tragic accident.
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Drugs or alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the incident which remains under investigation.
