Anit Bergher, 29, Killed in Port Hueneme DUI Crash on Channel Islands Boulevard
PORT HUENEME (October 20, 2018) – A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured after an alleged DUI crash on West Channel Islands Boulevard Wednesday, according to Ventura County Star.
Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased victim as 29-year-old Anit Bergher, of Oxnard.
As per the article, police said 24-year-old Jose Garcia Rodriguez was driving a Chevrolet Malibu at a high rate of speed west on Channel Islands Boulevard when he then a red light.
The Oxnard man ultimately collided with a Hyundai Accent that was making a left turn into a shopping center. The accident was reported at about 9:57 p.m. in the 600 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard.

Bergher, who was a passenger in the Hyundai, died at the hospital. The male driver the Accent was also hospitalized to be treated for major injuries. His name and condition at this time remained unknown.
The other four occupants of the Chevy were treated at the scene for minor wounds. Their identities were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Garcia Rodriguez was believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving without a license at the time of the tragic wreck. He was reportedly arrested on suspicion of felony gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI causing injury.
