Christopher Mansfield, 63; and Judith Lawrence, 64; Victims in Columbia Head-On Crash
TUOLUMNE COUNTY (April 20, 2020) – Authorities detained the alleged DUI driver that badly injured two people on Parrotts Ferry Road in Columbia Friday.
California Highway Patrol determined that Anna Marie Veredas was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred on April 17.
The incident happened when 46-year-old Sonora woman was operating a 2017 Honda Civic up the hill southbound on Parrotts Ferry toward Columbia.
Officers said at the same time, 63-year-old Christopher Brian Mansfield was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer north with 64-year-old Judith Ellen Lawrence.
Suspected Drunk Driver ID’d as Anna Veredas, 46
Veredas then crossed over double yellow lines into the northbound lane and went directly into the path of the Murphys residents. The two cars ultimately collided head-on.
According to reports by The Union Democrat and My Mother Lode, the crash took place at around 9:35 p.m., north of Porcina Way and the Marble Quarry Road fork.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and transported Mansfield to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
Medical personnel also took Lawrence and Veredas to Adventist Health Sonora to be treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate degree.
Meanwhile, officers later arrested Veredas for felony DUI. Authorities are still investigating the collision.
