Annabelle Vandenbroucke, 16, Dies After DUI Crash on Carmel Valley Road
CARMEL VALLEY (July 20, 2018) – A teenage girl critically injured after an alleged DUI crash on Carmel Valley Road last week has died, according to SF Gate and Monterey Herald.
Monterey County Sheriff’s coroner office identified the victim as 16-year-old Annabelle Vandenbroucke, of Carmel Valley.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Margot McNally was driving a Nissan Pathfinder west on Carmel Valley Road at a high rate of speed when she failed to negotiate a curve.
McNally then crossed over the double yellow line onto the eastbound lane directly into the path of a GMC Suburban. The Nissan then struck the GMC head-on. The crash occurred on July 12 at 7:40 p.m., east of Country Club Drive.

The Suburban ultimately caught fire as a result of the crash. Its driver, a 69-year-old woman, was rescued from the burning car and was taken to Natividad Medical Center with a broken leg.
CHP affirmed that Vandenbroucke, riding as a passenger in the Pathfinder, was also taken to the trauma center where she died Wednesday.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that McNally was released from Stanford Hospital on Tuesday with a broken tailbone. She is facing charges of gross vehicular manslaughter.
