
Anthony Apodaca DUI crash Stockton Interstate 5
Suspected DUI Driver in Stockton Crash ID’d as Anthony Apodaca, 39
STOCKTON, CA (January 28, 2021) – Authorities detained Anthony Apodaca after a DUI crash along the Interstate 5 in Stockton.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 39-year-old Lathrop man was under the influence when the wreck occurred on Thursday morning.
The incident began at around 7:10 a.m. when a CHP Officer was assisting a female driver of a disabled Chevy on the northbound Interstate 5.
Officials said Anthony Apodaca was driving an Audi in the area, just north of State Route 4. At the same time, the officer was outside his vehicle.
CHP Officer, Woman Injured in Collision on Interstate 5
Apodaca lost control of his car and then collided with the Chevy. The FOX 40 News and CBS Sacramento reported that the Audi also struck the officer.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found the officer and the woman suffering from minor injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel took them to the hospitals for treatment.
The names of the wounded victims and their condition were not released. Meanwhile, authorities later arrested Apodaca on suspicion of DUI.
Officers forced all lanes of the freeway to shut down for a time following the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
