Anthony Barnes, 54, Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash at Union and 8th
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 23, 2022) – Anthony Barnes was killed after a pedestrian crash at Union Avenue and 8th Street in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office identified the 54-year-old Bakersfield man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place last week on Sunday.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck Anthony Dean Barnes for an unknown reason in the city of Bakersfield. Police said the driver hit him at the intersection of Union Avenue and 8th Street.
Man Hit by Vehicle
The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire wrote that the accident occurred on August 14 at about 4:42 a.m. Anthony Barnes sustained serious injuries as a result of the pedestrian incident.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found him down on the ground. The victim soon died at the scene of the collision.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the driver stopped or stayed at the site after hitting the man. Officers forced the area of Union Avenue and 8th Street to shut down for a time following the accident.
The cause of the Bakersfield pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
