Police Seek Driver Who Hit Pedestrian, Dragged Him Underneath Vehicle
SYLMAR, Calif. (August 18, 2021) — Anthony Hurd, 66, died Monday in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash after his body was dragged into a Sylmar gas station on Foothill Boulevard.
The deadly Sylmar pedestrian hit-and-run crash happened about 12:48 a.m. near Hubbard Street on August 16th, according to Fox 11 News and the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the pedestrian crash victim as 66-year-old Anthony Hurd. His city of residence is not known at this time.
The suspect driving a gray or silver sedan, possibly a Kia or Toyota, struck Hurd. The victim was crossing Foothill Boulevard in the middle of the block, just south of Hubbard Street. Sadly, he died at the scene of the collision.
Witnesses report the victim became stuck underneath the vehicle so the driver allegedly pulled into a gas station to dislodge him, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to help the pedestrian crash victim Anthony Hurd.
Investigators are hoping the public will help them locate the suspect or provide information to help them.
There is a standing reward of up to $50,000 offered by the Los Angeles City Council. Witnesses may be eligible for the reward. Contact the LAPD Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8033 or 818-644-8036; 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
