Woman, 27, Killed; Anthony Lewis III Injured
LOCATION: French Valley, Winchester
DATE OF INCIDENT: Sunday, April 8th
April 9, 2018– According to the Inland Empire Sports News, a deadly DUI crash resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to her passenger Anthony Lewis III, 28, after being hit by a drunk driver Sunday evening at Benton and Winchester.
The crash occurred at 5:38 p.m. involving a total of three vehicles which included a Mitsubishi Galant, a 2016 Honda Civic, and a third unknown vehicle.
According to police officials, the driver of the Mitsubishi identified as Elvis Tate, 59, of Winchester, blew through a red light and struck Honda driven by an unidentified woman headed westbound on Benton preparing to turn onto Winchester Road with a green light.
The devastating impact of the crash instantly left the woman driving the Honda with fatal injuries while her passenger Anthony Lewis III was badly hurt and rushed to a trauma center in critical condition.
Elvis Tate Arrested for DUI
Meanwhile, Elvis Tate was determined to have been under the influence. He was injured as a result of the wreck but going to be arrested pending his release from the hospital.
There were no reports of the other vehicle involved and whether anyone inside was injured.
California Highway Patrol-Temecula division will be handling the investigation.
