Driver Killed in Magalia Crash Identified as Manteca Man
MAGALIA, Calif. (April 7, 2021) – Anthony Monterroza, 23, of Manteca, died, and a passenger in his car was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a solo crash on New Skyway near Pentz Road.
Also, the collision happened just after 3:50 p.m. on April 5th, according to Action News Now.
Additionally, the Butte County Coroner’s Office identified the young man as the driver who died.
Police say Anthony Monterroza was driving a car approaching a curve in the roadway. The vehicle was traveling too fast and went off the roadway and plummeted 60 feet down an embankment before it struck a tree.
The driver and passenger had major injuries. Paramedics responded to treat them both, but unfortunately, the driver died at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the injured passenger Enloe Hospital.
The case remains under investigation. Our thoughts and prayers extend to the family of Anthony Monterroza.
