Lake Elsinore Man, 57, Killed in Crash with School Bus
LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (May 13, 2022) — Anthony Ramirez, 57, of Lake Elsinore, died in a collision between his SUV and a school bus Thursday morning on Riverside Street in the Lake Elsinore area.
The crash occurred about 6:32 a.m. on May 12th, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The man was driving a 2009 Chevrolet HHR SUV that reportedly crashed into the side of a school bus turning at the intersection.
He suffered fatal injuries and died following the crash at Inland Valley Medical Center, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified him as Anthony Ramirez of Lake Elsinore.
Meanwhile, two students aboard the bus suffered minor injuries. They were identified only as an 8-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, the CHP said.
Paramedics transported them to a hospital, a school district spokesperson said. Also, a 20-year-old bus passenger had minor injuries, but there is no further information about them. The bus driver, a 69-year-old Wildomar man, was not injured, police said.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault.
