6 Injured in Antioch Crash on Eastbound Highway 4 Near Hillcrest Avenue

ANTIOCH, CA (July 29, 2021) – Several were injured, including children, after a car crash on Highway 4 in Antioch.

According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 7:06 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol said a Toyota Camry and a van collided for an unknown reason in Antioch. They crashed on eastbound Highway 4, west of Hillcrest Avenue.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then extricated the female driver of the Toyota from the wreckage.

Children Victims in Car Collision

Her passengers, five children ages 2 to 11, ended up hurt as a result of the collision. The woman and the juveniles sustained minor to major injuries upon impact.

A helicopter took a 2-year-old child to a hospital for treatment of a broken leg. Ground ambulances rushed the other patients to different hospitals for further aid.

Officials did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, the operator of the van did not sustain any injury in the accident.

Officers forced all eastbound lanes of the Highway 4 to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Antioch crash is still under investigation.
