1 Killed in Antioch Crash on Westbound Highway 4 Near Hillcrest Avenue
ANTIOCH, CA (September 10, 2021) – A man was killed after a crash on Highway 4 near Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch.
According to a report published by the East County Today, the tragic accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:38 p.m.
The incident began when a black Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling in front of a semi truck west on Highway 4 in Antioch. For an unknown reason, a white Infiniti G37 merged between the two vehicles.
In the process, the Infiniti then slammed into the Chevrolet, east of Hillcrest Avenue. The The California Highway Patrol said the Tahoe swerved to the right and into the guardrail.
Multiple Cars, Semi-Truck Collide
The big rig then collided with the Chevrolet after it went back into the lanes. A grey Toyota Corolla approached and ultimately struck the Tahoe.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 56-year-old Discovery Bay man driving the Chevrolet dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Medical personnel evaluated the other drivers for the possible injuries they sustained as a result of the collision.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of Highway 4 near Hillcrest to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Antioch crash is stull under investigation.
