2-Vehicle Crash in Antioch on State Route 4

ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 18, 2023) — A two-vehicle, hit-and-run crash in Antioch happened Tuesday on Highway 4, just west of Somersville Road.

The California Highway Patrol reported the collision around 6:53 a.m. on April 18th.

The drivers of a red Chevrolet Camaro and a black Mercedes Benz collided due to unknown circumstances in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of State Route 4. Debris from the crash scattered across all lanes of the highway, the report said.

An off-duty police officers managed to pull a driver out of one of the vehicles, but the man ran off and got into a white Honda to flee the scene.

The Chevrolet Camaro was left behind with major front-end damage and required a tow truck.

Police issued a SigAlert for Highway 4, just west of Somerville Road due to two lanes being blocked by the damaged vehicles.

Meanwhile, paramedics responded to help at least one person injured in the crash and tow trucks removed both damaged vehicles from the roadway.

Investigators continue to work on the case to determine liability.
