Woman, 23, Killed in Hit-and-run Crash at Oakland Intersection
OAKLAND, Calif. (Jan. 4, 2024) — Antoinette Matthews, 23, of Stockton, died early New Year’s Day when a vehicle doing doughnuts struck her at International Boulevard and 42nd Avenue in Oakland.
The deadly crash occurred at around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1st, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau and KRON 4 News.
The Stockton resident was an innocent bystander who was hit when the vehicle reportedly spun out and jumped the curb where she was standing on the sidewalk.
Paramedics transported her to a hospital where she later died from her injuries. The coroner later identified the victim as Antoinette Matthews.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene after the collision.
Oakland police are investigating the collision and asking the public with knowledge about the driver or collision to contact the department’s Traffic Investigation Unit at (510) 777-8570.
