 Antonia Mendez Ruiz Fatal Fullerton Crash Magnolia and Flower Avenues

2 Killed, 3 Injured in Fullerton Street Racing Crash

FULLERTON, Calif. (April 11, 2023) — Pedestrian Antonia Mendez Ruiz, 68, died Sunday in a high-speed crash involving street racing at Magnolia and Flower avenues in Fullerton.

The woman was one of two people who died and at least three people including a man riding a bicycle who were injured in the Fullerton crash, according to KTLA 5 News.

The multi-vehicle collision occurred around 9:20 a.m. on April 9th. A motorcyclist was allegedly engaged in a stunt and street race with an Audi when they both collided with a Toyota minivan.

Pedestrian, Bicyclist Hit in 3-Vehicle Fullerton Crash

The minivan was reportedly turning onto Flower Avenue when it was struck by the vehicles. Meanwhile, the Audi went on to also hit a bicycle rider and pedestrian, Antonia Mendez Ruiz, as she walked with her husband on the way to an Easter celebration. Furthermore, the Audi crashed into a power pole, a tree and overturned onto the front yard of a home where it severed a gas line.

The motorcycle rider was ejected from the bike and landed in the roadway. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Others were injured in the collision including the 74-year-old man driving the minivan and a 15-year-old boy riding with him. They were both transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Also, the 30-year-old man riding the bicycle suffered moderate injuries and was also hospitalized.

Finally, the Fullerton Police Department is heading up the investigation into liability for the collision that left two people dead including Antonia Mendez Ruiz.
