Antonio Navarrete killed in crash with suspected DUI Driver
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 15, 2018) — Antonio Navarrete, who is in his mid-20s, died in a collision early Saturday morning with a suspected drunk driver at the intersection of El Camino Avenue and Evergreen Street, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The fatal crash took place just after midnight on Saturday as the victim was driving home from his job as a bartender at the Zocalo restaurant in the UV shopping center.
Police say that Navarrete was driving through the intersection about 12:30 a.m. when his vehicle was T-boned by the suspect, identified as Xoury Soukouang, 38. The victim was found unconscious and trapped in the vehicle where he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sacramento Police Department is heading up the investigation. Police subsequently arrested Soukouang on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. The suspect suffered minor injuries in the crash and treated at an area hospital.
