Antonio Orosco, 27, ID’d as DUI Driver in Fresno County Fatal Crash on Highway 180
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (September 18, 2022) – Authorities detained Antonio Orosco after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 180 near Kerman in Fresno County.
UPDATE: Woman killed in Highway 180 crash identified
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 27-year-old Fresno man was under the influence of drugs when the wreck took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Antonia Orosco was driving a Honda sedan west on Highway 180 near Kerman in Fresno County. At the same time, an Acura was going east.
CHP said he swerved to the left and crossed over into the eastbound lane directly in front of the Acura. In the process, he slammed head-on into the other car.
1 Killed, 4 Seriously Injured in Wreck
The vehicles crashed just east of Shasta Avenue. The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley wrote that the accident occurred on September 17 at about 9:18 p.m.
The driver of the Acura, a 20-year-old Mendota woman, died at the scene. Her four passengers, all from Mendota and ages 14 to 21, ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Three of them and Antonia Orosco sustained major injuries following the Fresno County crash. The fourth occupant of the Acura survived the incident with moderate injuries.
Paramedics rushed all patients to the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested Antonio Orosco on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The Fresno County DUI crash is still under investigation.
