ANZA, California (July 31, 2015) — A 24-year-old passenger died and two others were injured early Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash over the side of Highway 74 at Scenic Drive in Mountain Center, a Riverside County Fire Department report said.
The crash was reported at 2:45 a.m. this morning when the driver veered off the roadway and the vehicle plunged 40 feet down the side of an embankment or hill. The passenger died at the scene, but the driver and a second passenger managed to get out of the vehicle on their own with no serious injuries.
The passenger who died has been identified as Anna Hicks of Palm Desert, California.
Police are investigating what caused the crash and will issue a report with their findings of liability.
