Man, 57, Killed in Head-on Apple Valley Car Accident; Teen Injured
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (July 1, 2021) — An Apple Valley fatal crash happened Wednesday at Central and Powhatan roads.
The collision took place about 7 p.m. on June 30th at the Apple Valley intersection, according to Victor Valley News.
A 57-year-old man driving a white 2004 Mazda 6 died in the head-on traffic collision. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy driving a white 1993 Jeep Wrangler survived the crash with major injuries.
Police believe the older man driving the Mazda crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the teenager’s Jeep.
The Mazda had been southbound on Central Road before veering into northbound traffic near Powhatan Road, according to officials.
Apple Valley Fire Protection District firefighters responded and found the Jeep overturned onto its side. Additionally, both of the vehicles suffered major front-end damage due to the head-on crash. The 57-year-old man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the teenager was extricated from the wreckage and transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s hospital. Once there, the teen was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Police noted that some Good Samaritans stopped and provided aid to the two drivers prior to the arrival of medical personnel.
