APPLE VALLEY: Two Pedestrians Killed in Crash on Bear Valley Road ID’d by Coroner
APPLE VALLEY, California (February 26, 2015) — Cary Gene Hughes, 56, and Loretta Ann Delatorre, 59, have been identified as the two pedestrians who were killed Tuesday night at the intersection of Bear Valley Road, just west of Kiowa Road, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
The fatal pedestrian accident was reported about 6:48 p.m. when the couple were crossing Bear Valley Road and struck by an oncoming 2003 Ford Escape. The driver stopped and remained at the scene where she was questioned by police.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics were at the scene of the crash, but Delatorre died of her injuries there. Hughes was taken by ambulance to Loma LInda University Medical Center where he died at 8:07 p.m. the same night.
The fatal crash is under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
